"Hi, Steve Logan here. Last time I dealt with the dreaded problem of shanking and I have been amazed at the number of people who have contacted me to say how my Helpful Hints section has already started to improve their game. Here are just a couple of the responses I've had":
"Dear Steve, I used to shank all the time but now I'm cured thanks to your great advice".
Yours swingingly, Tommy Horne
"Hi Steve, I think you're lovely and was wondering if we could meet up sometime over a quiet drink to discuss some of my problems"
Yours admiringly, Pete C
"Keep those messages coming in folks!
This week, what I want to talk about is the 'ATHLETIC SWING'. In my opinion great golfers like myself will be athletes - able to hit the ball up to 400 yards with a driver. One of the secrets of achieving this is keeping the left foot planted on the ground in the backswing this will bring power to your swing. DO NOT get mixed up with the left foot forward routine.
Below, Vice Captain Simpson kindly demonstrates what NOT to do. You will see his left heel clearly off the ground at the top of his swing. In this instance his drive barely reached 250 yards.

THAT'S ALL FOR THIS TIME. MORE SOON ON 'HELPFUL HINTS WITH STEVE'.
