"Hi, Steve Logan here. Last week I dealt with the tricky problem of 'Athletic Swing' and how that left foot must stay firmly planted on the ground. Before I move on to this week's Hint, once again I have to say that the response to my little slot (sorry Pete - I meant my Helpful Hints page) has been overwhelming. Here is just a sample of some of the responses:

see my left foot is solidly on the ground on the follow through.  This resulted in a straight shot of some three hundred yards. Well, Captain Holland, I have to say that it is a lovely swing, however, we only have your say that its actually you in the picture. It could be anyone! On second thoughts no-one else could possibly look that scruffy. As for the guy behind you on the tee my tip to him is to stay off the beer for a few weeks! STEVE

ANYWAY - on to my Helpful Hint for this week and its perhaps one of the most overlooked aspects of the modern game - GRIPPING THE CLUB.

The Proper Grip can be a thing of beauty.  Look at how athletic and powerful the grips of many Pros are today - including me.  Always begin with your left hand followed by the right, have half an inch protruding from the top of your hand.  Now close your right hand over your left thumb so that it’s covered by your right hand.  The thumb and fore finger of your right hand should touch.  The pictures show me giving Peter a one-to-one demonstration. Hope they are useful - Pete certainly enjoyed our session!
