Alyth outing success
As you probably know, the Club recently held its first ever 'away' outing to a golf course outwith Carnoustie. Organiser, Pete Coutie, did a sterling job in managing to prise 16 able-bodied members away from the safety of the Station Hotel for a few hours relaxation. In perfect conditions, the stableford competition was won by Kenny Grogan with Donnie Barclay 2nd and Andy Gilbride a creditable 3rd. Longest drive at the 15th was won by David Clark and nearest the pin at the 7th was Sandy Norrie. The team prize was snaffled by Sandy Norrie, Derek Phinn, Kenny Grogan and John Jeans. A special prize of a cheap bottle of champagne was presented to Donnie Barclay who went to the extraordinary lengths of re-arranging his flights back from a business trip to San Francisco so he would be back in time to play in the outing! Donald is either extremely dedicated or half daft - only you can decide? Kenny celebrated his outstanding win by treating himself to a new pair of golfing breeks and is pictured below modelling them at the club along with his new Station Masters shirt. The guy in the pro shop couldn't believe his luck when he saw Kenny coming through the door!

Dad and daughter success in Cant Cup
Father and daughter team Dave (£18)
Meek and Hannah recently competed in the Cant MacDonald Cup over Burnside Links.
The Cant cup handicap
competition was this year split into two handicap groupings 0 - 16 and 16.5
upwards. In the event, Dave and Hannah (pictured) won the higher handicap
competition, scoring an excellent gross 86, nett 67 which beat their nearest
rival by 2 shots earning the team a voucher for £90 which on the instructions of
Julie, wife and mum respectively, will go the junior partner of the family team!
Dave's regular playing partner and older daughter Jessica, meanwhile ditched her
dad in favour of 'Green Tractor Man' Nor Reid and they too did very well in the same
competition, finishing with a top ten placing on net 72. Well done to all
Station Masters members who took part in the competition.
Special Olympics fund raising success
The Station Hotel rocked last week to
the sounds of Aberdeen cover band 'No Hot Ashes' who played to a packed audience
of 
Station Masters
party-goers. The evening was a fund-raising effort for local lounge regular
Cameron Crawford who is heading off to Leicester next month to take part in this
year's 'Special Olympics'. Cameron is competing in the front crawl and back
stroke swimming events and is one of over 2000 competitors taking part in the
games. All competitors have to raise the money for their own expenses and with
corporate sponsorship taking a tumble in the current economic climate, the £400
raised by everyone in the Station will hopefully help Cameron on his way to
'going for gold'.
