Kelly is 'Golf Monthly' Junior of the Month
Kelly Barclay, you
ng
daughter of former Club Champion Donald, is this month's 'Golf Monthly'
Junior of the Month. Following in her father's footsteps, she has fallen in
love with the game at an early age. Kelly, a member of Carnoustie Ladies,
suffers from Cerebral Palsy and has found that the game helps her co-ordination,
balance and dexterity. She caught the golfing 'bug' after going along to a
coaching session with Links professional Colin Sinclair but used to find the
going a bit tough after a few holes. That was until the world renowned trolley
company, Powacaddy, heard about Kelly and presented her with a specially adapted
electric golf trolley which enables her to play that bit longer. Golf
merchandising giant, Ping, also stepped in with a new bag for the
youngster. Dad Donald says "Everyone has been fantastic and I can't thank
enough the Carnoustie Ladies, Colin Sinclair and his assistant Nicky Christie". Kelly
has obviously set her sights high for next season as she and her wee brother
Ross intend joining the Station Masters GC!
Annual Dinner and Presentation of Trophies success
The third Station Masters Annual Dinner and Presentation of Trophies took place in the Station Hotel last week. Some sixty members and guests enjoyed an excellent evening with entertainment provided by guest speakers Andy Gilbride and John McSkimming, both stalwarts of the local Carnoustie Theatre Club. As usual Ivor produced a first class meal and Kathryn and staff did a great job in keeping the members supplied with soft drinks throughout the evening. We wish to point out there is no truth in the rumour that the bar ran out of bottles of Magners and George Greig had to go home early!
